RagdollsFL SEO Case Study: How Organic Traffic Grew 8.3×
RagdollsFL is a home-based Ragdoll cattery in North Port, Florida. I built its first Wix website in August 2020 to provide clear information about the cattery, its cats, available kittens, and the adoption process.
The initial SEO setup was minimal. I wrote meta descriptions for the main pages, but there was no dedicated heading structure or ongoing SEO management at that stage. The owners continued adding new kittens, while the website gradually gained visibility in Google.
Wix Analytics data has been available since the website launched. It allows us to follow the project over several years, from its first visits to 6,348 organic sessions in one year and strong rankings for commercial searches in Florida.
Project Results
Organic traffic grew from 763 visits in 2021 to 6,348 in 2023, an 8.3× increase.
Search generated 77% of all website visits in 2023.
Organic visits from U.S. states outside Florida increased from 94 in 2021 to 804 in 2023.
The original contact form received 97 kitten inquiries in 2023.
The website's two inquiry forms received 160 submissions in 2024 and 151 in 2025.
For the available Google reporting period, the website's average position for ragdolls florida was 2.5 on desktop and 3.5 on mobile.

The Challenge
A cattery website needs to do more than display kitten photos. A prospective owner wants to learn about the parents, health testing and registration, pricing, reservation terms, and the process of bringing a kitten home. The website must answer these questions, build trust, and make it easy to contact the breeder.
The first RagdollsFL website included pages for the breeding cats, available and planned litters, adoption information, and contact details. The goal was to create a clear resource that the owners could update themselves and that prospective families could discover through search.
Website and SEO Development
2020: Initial Launch
The website launched in late August 2020. I wrote meta descriptions for its main pages and prepared the basic website structure. At this stage, the pages did not yet have a fully planned heading hierarchy, and the project was not under ongoing SEO management.
2021–2022: Gradual Search Growth
The website received 763 organic visits in 2021 and 1,648 in 2022. The owners continued adding kittens, while the overall structure remained largely unchanged.
2023: Improved Page Structure and Peak Organic Traffic
In 2023, I improved the heading structure across the website. Organic traffic reached 6,348 visits for the year and accounted for 77% of all website traffic.
We also expanded the website near the end of the year. The Supplies and Testimonials pages were added in November–December 2023. Most of that year's growth had already occurred, so I do not attribute the 2023 result solely to these new pages. They formed the next stage of the website's content and user journey.
2025: Updated SEO Settings
In November 2025, I updated the meta descriptions and revised the heading structure again. After the update, we began noticing the website for broader searches, including ragdolls usa, where it appeared on the second page of the results we monitored.
We do not have a comparable measurement for this exact query before the update, so I treat this as an observed change rather than a precise before-and-after ranking claim.
2026: Moving to Wix Studio
The project is now moving to Wix Studio. We are updating the design and information architecture, improving the cat and kitten pages, forms, navigation, and SEO settings. We will measure the new version after launch at 3, 6, and 12 months using equivalent comparison periods.

Organic Traffic Growth
Year | All visits | Organic search | Organic share |
2021 | 1 357 | 763 | 56% |
2022 | 3 661 | 1 648 | 45% |
2023 | 8 296 | 6 348 | 77% |
2024 | 6 483 | 4 226 | 65% |
2025 | 5 599 | 2 461 | 44% |
Organic traffic peaked in 2023. September was the strongest month, with 799 visits from organic search.
Traffic declined after the peak, to 4,226 organic visits in 2024 and 2,461 in 2025. The website was not under ongoing SEO management during this period. Demand, competition, and changes in search results may also have affected performance, and the available data does not support attributing the decline to one cause.
This trend was one reason to return to the project, update the SEO settings, and begin a full Wix Studio redesign.

Geography: Florida and Other States
Florida remained the cattery's primary market. In 2023, the website received 6,291 organic visits from the United States, including 5,487 from Florida.
At the same time, the audience expanded beyond the home state. Organic visits from other states grew from 94 in 2021 to 804 in 2023. This does not mean that every visitor became a customer, but it shows that the website was discovered well beyond the cattery's local area.

Pages That Attracted Search Visitors
In 2023, the homepage was the landing page for 5,413 of 6,348 organic visits. Another 515 organic visits began on the Available Kittens page.
These results reflect two main user needs: learning about the cattery and immediately checking whether kittens are available. The new website keeps both routes prominent while making the path to information and inquiry shorter and clearer.

Google Rankings
The website maintains strong visibility for important Florida searches. For the available Google reporting period, its average position for ragdolls florida was:
2.5 on desktop;
3.5 on mobile.
In the saved search screenshot, RagdollsFL appears as the first regular website result below the Google Maps local pack. This is not the first position inside the local pack; it is the first organic website link below it.

After the 2025 SEO update, we also began seeing the website on the second page for the broader and more competitive search ragdolls usa. Google results can vary by location, device, and personalization, so the screenshot documents a specific observation. Average rankings are stated only where Google data is available.
From a Simple Message to a Detailed Application
The original website used a simple contact form with name, email, phone number, and message fields. It generated genuine kitten inquiries, with virtually no spam.
As inquiry volume increased, the basic form was no longer enough. In late 2023, we added a detailed Adoption Form. It helps the breeder collect relevant information in advance and identify people who are seriously interested and prepared to adopt a kitten.
Year | Contact form | Adoption Form | Total submissions |
2023 | 97 | 5 | 102 |
2024 | 115 | 45 | 160 |
2025 | 105 | 46 | 151 |
A form submission is not the same as a completed sale, so I describe these figures as inquiries and applications rather than customers. They do, however, confirm that the website served a practical business purpose: helping people discover the cattery and begin a conversation with the breeder.

What This Case Study Shows
RagdollsFL was not under continuous monthly SEO management. For that reason, I do not attribute every traffic change to an individual adjustment or suggest that one meta tag can produce the same result for every website.
The data does demonstrate several important points:
a small niche website can become a strong source of organic traffic;
clear structure and pages based on real customer questions help attract relevant visitors;
SEO needs monitoring and updates, especially after a period of growth;
rankings are not the final goal: the website must turn search interest into a clear path to inquiry.
The next chapter will begin after the new Wix Studio version launches. We have preserved the baseline data and will be able to measure how the redesign, updated structure, and new SEO settings affect visibility, traffic, and inquiries after 3, 6, and 12 months.

Sources and Methodology
This case study uses Wix Analytics exports from 2020–2026, including traffic over time, traffic sources, geography, first pages in sessions, and form submissions, together with the Google query and ranking data available through Wix. Partial years 2020 and 2026 were not compared with complete calendar years. Website visits, Google clicks, form submissions, and completed kitten placements are treated as separate metrics.
